The Committee shall foster positive, constructive and open communication between information vendors and the membership of AALL in matters relating to provision of information in any format.
The Committee shall support ongoing AALL educational initiatives and provide continuing educational opportunities for both AALL members and information vendors.
The Committee shall serve as a forum and resource to provide constructive suggestions to vendors.
The Committee shall foster a cooperative working relationship between librarians and information vendors.
The Committee will select one (1) or more recipients every year for the New Product Award, or no recipient if it deems none of the nominees sufficiently qualified, and will submit the winning recipient's name(s) to the Awards Committee.
The Committee represents the interests of all AALL members, and neither it nor its members will represent or advocate for the benefit of only one publisher or information vendor when acting in their capacity as committee members. | |

CRIV Subcommittee Charges
I. Annual Meeting/Education: Submit proposal for CRIV-sponsored program for the Annual Meeting and coordinate development of program if accepted. Organize CRIV-sponsored Open House or Forum for the Annual Meeting.

II. CRIV Publications: Produce 3 issues of CRIV Sheet, and solicit authors and develop content for CRIV Notes to be published in AALL Spectrum during months that CRIV Sheet is not published. Review CRIV Sheet "Editorial Policy & Procedures" to determine whether any changes are needed.
Oversee maintenance of CRIV Page and development and upkeep of information content.
Oversee production of CRIVTools that address issues of vendor relations. Tasks include identifying the tools to be produced; creating, or soliciting the creation of, the tools; and managing the distribution of the tools using both print and electronic means as appropriate.

III. Vendor Communications: Serving in an "ombudsman" role, work with librarians and publishers to help solve problems of both an individual or wide-scale nature. By monitoring appropriate discussion lists and through other means, identify actual or potential problems that are appropriate for CRIV intervention. Investigate formal complaints and other informal reports of problems, assist in achieving fair settlements, and expedite communication of findings and solutions to the library and publisher communities by issuing reports through electronic means as deemed appropriate. Oversee production and distribution of CRIVGrams and CRIV Alerts, including the development of appropriate guidelines. Work with other AALL entities to monitor and participate in the discussion of fair trade practices in the legal publishing industry.
