
Executive Board Job Descriptions
Executive Board Members
The Executive Board consists of 11 members, the five officers and six members of the Board. As elected representatives of the membership, the Executive Board plans for and carries on the work of the Association. All members of the Board have the following responsibilities. The officers have additional duties as outlined in separate descriptions.
President
The President is the head of the Association. He/she is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction in the development and implementation of policies. The President is the chief administrator and legal head of the Association. The President is the presiding officer at Board meetings, encouraging a full and fair discussion of issues while maintaining control of the process.
Vice-President
The Vice President/President-Elect assumes the duties of the president in case of death or incapacity. See description for Executive Board for additional details.Past President
Secretary
The Secretary is the recording officer and custodian of records of the Association. The Secretary supervises preparation of minutes, oversees the election process, and chairs the Board Governance Committee. See description for Executive Board for additional details.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is the primary steward of the Association’s financial resources. As the Association’s steward, it is the treasurer’s responsibility to see that the Association’s finances are well managed and expended in conformance with the Association’s financial policies and standard accounting procedures. The Treasurer is also responsible for insuring that the Association’s financial reports are fully available to all AALL members. It is his or her job to insure that each member of the Board fully understands the Association’s financial structure and the financial implications of any and all decisions made by the Board. http://aallnet.org/about/policy_financial.asp
