
Nominations and Elections Schedule 2008 (for 2009 roster)
January:
- Determine work plan.
- Develop timeline.
- Check Bylaws for ground rules.
- Update committee web site.
- Publicize the work of the committee and solicit names of potential candidates.
- Collect data from prior year's committee.
February:
- Committee members send names of potential candidates to form the beginning of our list of potential nominees to Chair.
- Invite AALL members to suggest names of potential candidates.
- Update leadership database of names to be used to identify candidates to contact.
March:
- Hold telephone conference to analyze the list of submitted names and determine and rank leading candidates.
April:
- Chair contacts leading candidates to determine their willingness to serve if nominated.
- Develop draft slate of candidates and alternates.
May:
- Contact draft slate to confirm commitments.
- Send formal letters of nomination to candidates.
- Secure written letters of acceptance from candidates.
June:
- Finalize slate for submission to Executive Board.
- Prepare report for Executive Board.
