104th AALL Annual Meeting & Conference

On behalf of the 2011 Annual Meeting Program Committee, it is our pleasure to announce the call for program and workshop proposals for AALL's 104th Annual Meeting and Conference in Philadelphia.
We know what you're saying to yourself right now: "Hey, this is where they're supposed to announce the theme of the Annual Meeting." But this is the year of no theme. The Annual Meeting has always been considered our premier educational event. There was nothing we could think of that better describes what we want the Philadelphia meeting to be!
But we will give you some help in shaping your program and workshop proposals. In Philadelphia we will be using program tracks based on the updated Competencies of Law Librarianship to assist our members find the programs that best suit their needs. There will be six tracks in the areas of:
- Library Administration and Management
- Research, Reference, and Client Services
- Information Technology
- Collection Development and Cataloging
- Teaching
- General or Core Programs
Fellow law librarians understand the challenges we face and the accomplishments we achieve better than anyone else. Your proposals will tell us what types of programming will assist you in your daily work, inspire you to make changes in your professional and private lives, or satisfy your curiosity about a particular area of the law or librarianship. AALL members have clearly stated that they are looking for:
- advanced programming
- practical knowledge
- programs on substantive law, technical services, and library management and administration
The AMPC is seeking proposals that support those needs and feature concrete, practical ideas and case studies about library services and information resources. Armed with fresh insights into existing challenges, we want our members to take away new knowledge and skills that they can apply in their libraries and in their career paths.
Use the online Program and Workshop Proposal Collection site to develop your proposal in your own workspace, share it with your colleagues, and submit it online by the newly-extended September 15, 2010, deadline. Helpful resources include:
